LONDON—07 November 2024—Ukrainian Action, a UK charity and US nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the survival and recovery of Ukraine, has appointed Jack Lopresti as Patron of Ukrainian Action Heroes Rehabilitation Program for wounded Ukrainian veterans.

Jack Lopresti is a former member of Parliament and a military veteran with a longstanding dedication to public service. His commitment to supporting Ukraine, both in terms of defense and humanitarian aid, aligns closely with Ukrainian Action’s mission. A veteran of the Armed Forces, Jack served with the 29 Commando Regt Royal Artillery, as a reservist Gunner and was deployed in Afghanistan in 2008/09 on operation Herrick 9. His strong connection to the military has fuelled his engagement with the Armed Forces and Veterans groups, furthering his advocacy for Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Action Heroes program is designed to provide comprehensive support to veterans and their families, helping restore emotional well-being, improve physical health, and facilitate reintegration into civilian life. The primary goal is to help veterans and their families overcome stress and psychological trauma through participation in a variety of therapeutic, physical, and recreation activities, including learning to ski and snowboard. The program also emphasizes reconnecting with nature in the scenic and serene Carpathian Mountains, to find inner resources for recovery.

Jack has been involved in politics at both local and national level since the late 1980s and has served in numerous positions including, as a councillor on Bristol City Council and UK MP for Filton & Bradley Stoke during 2010-2024 serving as Deputy Chairman of the UK’s Conservative Party from July 2022 to July 2024. Notably, he has also championed efforts to repurpose ULEZ-related vehicles from the UK for use as ambulances and command vehicles in Ukraine. Jack has made several visits to Ukraine, meeting with officials and working to foster collaboration between British and Ukrainian defense sectors and veteran communities.

In August 2024, Jack drove a donated vehicle from London to Kyiv with Ukrainian Action. Jack Lopresti said, “It is a huge honour to be asked to take up this position and a privilege to support the fantastic work Ukrainian Action does in the support, care and rehabilitation of wounded Ukrainian Veterans.”

"Jack brings a wealth of experience, passion, and dedication to our charity, and we are honored to have his support in advancing our efforts to aid Ukraine during this challenging time. We are confident that Jack’s leadership and commitment will greatly enhance our impact in supporting Ukraine and its people, particular the veteran community." said Jeffrey Hartman, Ukrainian Action co-founder and CEO.
