Ukrainian Action Heroes

Ukrainian Action Heroes is a rehabilitation program welcoming injured Ukrainian veterans to the Carpathian mountains to learn to ski, snowboard and participate in other outdoor mountain sports and activities while receiving psychological support in the serenity of the mountains. The program includes travel, room and board, daily access to an experienced and qualified psychologist, group therapy, wellness, and mindfulness activities. The goal of the program is to help Ukraine’s heroes recover from the trauma of active warfare, provide tools to deal with PTSD and introduce a place of refuge and solace. Our pilot programme welcomed 19 veterans during February-March 2024. Our summer program runs from July to September.

You can support a UA Hero! £1,000 covers the cost of a two week rehabilitation program for one veteran.

Ukrainian Action Heroes - Testimonial 1

Good day! My name is Vasyl, I come from Chernihiv region.

Before the war, I had already served in the National Guard of Ukraine since 2008. I went to military service because I decided to build a military career. Now my military rank is major and I continue to serve.

I came to the Ukrainian Action Heroes program because, unfortunately, the war leaves its consequences (PTSD), such as anxiety, phobias, constant immersion in the events of the past, obsessive memories, memory impairment and sleep disorders; feeling of tension and anxiety; exhaustion of the central nervous system.

What I liked most about the program was skiing and, of course, communication with fellow students, yoga and mountain walks are also very calming. Therefore, the program was very useful to me, as it restores the normal state of life! And this also improves sleep, memory, mood, and reduces anxiety.

That's why I will definitely recommend the program to my brothers, as we need healthy guys and we still have a lot of work ahead of us 💪 Thanks to Ukrainian Action Heroes and Jeff Hartman personally for the opportunity to recover, together to victory! 💪 Glory to Ukraine🇺🇦
